MEDIA STATEMENT
11 May 2021
According to astronomical calculations, the crescent for the month of Syawal did not appear this evening after sunset as it had set earlier. This signifies that tomorrow will be the end of 30 days of Ramadan.
As such, I am pleased to announce that the first day of Syawal for the year of 1442 Hijrah falls on Thursday, 13 May 2021.
Let us celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri by reflecting on the meaning of victory, even as we are celebrating in moderation. I pray that Allah accepts all our good deeds in Ramadan and protect our community from all forms of harm and danger. Let us continue to uphold the spirit social responsibility. I would like to take this opportunity to seek forgiveness for any shortcomings and wish all Muslims in Singapore: "Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri".
