1. Madrasah Aljunied Al-Islamiah announced its students' results for the 2024 International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) examinations today, following the release of global results by the International Baccalaureate Organisation. All 17 students from the Azhar-IB track at Madrasah Aljunied passed their IBDP examinations and have been conferred a Bilingual Diploma1 in the International Baccalaureate Programme.
2. The madrasah celebrates the holistic education its students have experienced through the programme, and this is reflected in the achievement of all graduates obtaining the diploma. Madrasah Aljunied’s educational philosophy extends beyond numerical averages, and instead focuses on nurturing well-rounded individuals equipped for future challenges.
3. Apart from the IBDP qualification, students in the Azhar-IB track will also be conferred with the Aliyah Diploma upon completion of their Aliyah examinations later this year. These qualifications are part of Muis’ efforts to enhance madrasah education and increase students’ opportunities to continue their Islamic Studies journey at both traditional Islamic universities and other tertiary institutions that accept IB Diploma as an entrance criteria.
IBDP AT MADRASAH ALJUNIED
4. The IBDP complements the Islamic Studies programme at the Aliyah level in Madrasah Aljunied, equipping future asatizah with essential 21st-century skills. This comprehensive curriculum, focusing on active learning, research, critical thinking, and community engagement, prepares students for university and cultivates the intellectual rigour needed for future religious scholars and leaders in Singapore. As society becomes more complex and new socio-religious issues emerge, these competencies are crucial for asatizah to remain effective. The programme empowers them to address intricate issues, provide informed guidance, and serve as beacons of knowledge in a rapidly evolving society. By blending traditional Islamic education with contemporary approaches, the IBDP ensures future asatizah can navigate modern complexities, offering relevant and insightful leadership to their communities.
5. Madrasah Aljunied became an IB candidate school in September 2016 and was authorised to be an IB World School in October 2018, starting the IBDP in 2019. The subjects that have been offered to students include Malay Language A, Arabic Language B, English Language B, Global Politics, Environmental Systems and Societies, Chemistry, and Mathematics in addition to the three IB core components2. These subjects were selected as they complemented the Islamic Studies subjects.
