Singapore Signs Halal Cooperation Memorandum of Understanding with the Kingdom of Morocco

Muis and Morocco's IMANOR will now mutually recognise halal certificates and marks between both countries

1. The Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (Muis) and the Moroccan Institute for Standardization (IMANOR1) have signed a five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on halal cooperation on Thursday, 27 June 2024.

2. Chief Executive of Muis, Mr Kadir Maideen and Director of IMANOR, Mr Abderrahim Taibi signed the MoU on the sidelines of the 6th edition of Moroccan Halal Forum (FOHAM) in Casablanca, Kingdom of Morocco. The MoU signing ceremony was witnessed by Mr Masagos Zulkifli, Minister for Social & Family Development, Second Minister for Health, and Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs.

3. Muis and IMANOR will now mutually recognise halal certificates and marks between the respective countries, which will facilitate the trade of halal-certified domestic products between both Singapore and Morocco.

4. Singapore-based companies can export Muis halal-certified products produced in Singapore to Morocco. Correspondingly, products certified by IMANOR produced in Morocco will also be recognised by Muis for use by halal-certified establishments in Singapore.
