Announcement on the Beginning of Zulhijjah 1445H/2024 for Singapore

According to astronomical calculations, the crescent for the month of Zulhijjah was above the horizon this evening after sunset for about 49 minutes.

As such, the first day of the month of Zulhijjah 1445H falls tomorrow, Saturday, 8 June 2024.

I am pleased to declare that Hari Raya Haji, or Aidiladha, falls on Monday, 17 June 2024.

May I call upon the Muslim community in Singapore to welcome and enliven the month of Zulhijjah with goodness. Let us pray for the safety of Singapore pilgrims who are currently performing their Haj. Let us also reflect on the meaning of sacrifice behind Aidiladha,and celebrate it with full compassion.
