This theme seeks to explore creative modes of thinking about and engaging with the rich, diverse and plural Islamic traditions. Most ancient traditions come alive and play a meaningful role in contemporary societies, primarily through two means:
Firstly, the wisdom of traditions will have an impact when the contemporary Muslim mind inculcates, exhibits and perpetuates the spirit, fire, passion and commitment of the great creative scholars, which had allowed them to realize their highest potential and produce highly innovative and relevant works that addressed their own times.
Secondly, traditions, like any tool, is neutral, it acquires meaning through the human agency that imbibes it with relevance to their current situation. This comes about, when the Muslim mind creatively, critically, openly and respectfully engages with the rich and diverse works, relating, connecting and merging it with current realities.
