Ramadan zakat disbursement 2025
26 March 2025
MUIS will provide an additional $3.08 million in zakat disbursement to 8,200 beneficiaries for Ramadan 2025 / 1446H.
Strengthening the community through zakat
1. Zakat is a significant institution for Muslims as it serves to strengthen the community by channelling contributions from zakat payers to the specified group of beneficiaries (asnaf) - which include the poor and needy - and in doing so, embodies the spirit of compassion.
Additional zakat disbursement for Ramadan 2025 / 1446H
2. The Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (MUIS) announced on 9 March that it will provide an additional $3.08 million in zakat disbursement to 8,200 beneficiaries for Ramadan 2025 / 1446H. This special assistance, which supplements the monthly zakat financial assistance (FA), aims to share the festive joy with poor and needy Muslims in Singapore.
3. The additional Ramadan cash disbursement will be provided to monthly zakat FA beneficiaries, ComCare Long Term Assistance recipients, selected households from Family Service Centres, and residents of selected welfare homes. This year, MUIS will also include ITE and Polytechnic students from low-income families. Recipients will receive between $150 and $2,100, based on household size. Payments began on Friday, 14 March 2025, and eligible beneficiaries have been notified by post.
Supporting ITE and polytechnic students
4. MUIS will continue to extend the zakat disbursement to ITE and Polytechnic students from low-income and challenging backgrounds. Through the reqab asnaf, this support aims to encourage Muslim students in their pursuit of knowledge and provide additional assistance for their schooling expenses during Ramadan and Syawal.
SalamSG Gives to spread the spirit of sharing and giving
5. SalamSG Gives comprises various Ramadan activities, from ground-up initiatives to programmes organised at mosques, districts and MUIS HQ. Since 22 February, Masjid Al-Khair, Masjid Abdul Aleem Siddique and Masjid Al-Muttaqin have organised SalamSG events celebrating the community's spirit of giving and volunteerism. These events, conducted in collaboration with local stakeholders and partners, serve vulnerable groups from all walks of life. The initiative has benefited 480 households, a 30 percent increase from last year, helping Muslim families prepare physically and spiritually for Ramadan.
6. MUIS staff will participate in SalamSG Gives by personally delivering Raya cookie hampers to more than 100 selected zakat beneficiaries, over 300 ComCare Long-Term Assistance beneficiaries, and residents from more than 40 welfare homes and institutions. Additionally, MUIS will provide iftar meals to selected welfare homes to enliven the spirit of sharing. More than $700,000 of Fidyah Funds will be channelled to Social Development Mosques for Ramadan activities.
7. These activities, programmes and initiatives are made possible through the generous contributions of the MUIS community through annual zakat collection and fidyah. We seek continued support to ensure that zakat can strengthen our community and spread blessings to all.
