The passing of Puan Noor Aishah

MUIS is deeply saddened by the passing of the wife of the late President Yusof Ishak, Puan Noor Aishah Mohammad Salim.
1. We are deeply saddened by the passing of the wife of the late President Yusof Ishak, Puan Noor Aishah Mohammad Salim.
2. The community has lost a strong patron and supporter of many social services organisations who sought tirelessly to uplift the community. Her significant contributions to the community, most notably in supporting people with disabilities and women’s rights, created a deep impact on the lives of the Singaporean Muslims and the nation as well.
3. Puan Noor Aishah served with grace and supported the late President Yusof Ishak in all his official functions. She was a strong supporter of initiatives and organisations that serves the needs of specific segments of the community, including Singapore Muslim Women’s Association (PPIS), the Children’s Society and Association for the Deaf.
4. When plans for the construction of Masjid Yusof Ishak was announced in 2014, Puan Noor Aishah lent her support at every step of its construction to consecration - from fund raising and community outreach efforts, to donating plants from her private nursery to enhance the landscaping feature at Masjid Yusof Ishak.
5. Since its opening in 2017, Puan Noor Aishah has been a prominent figure at many signature events at Masjid Yusof Ishak. Her presence was always welcomed by congregants who remembers Puan Noor Aishah for her tireless support for the community.
6. MUIS would like to express our heartfelt condolences to the family of Puan Noor Aishah for their loss. May Allah s.w.t. shower His choicest blessings for all her great deeds and contributions to both the community and nation.
